JW Johnson Achieves 3rd Pro Pickleball Triple Crown 

Delray Beach Teen Wins 2nd Gold Medal With 15 year old Sister and 6th Gold Medal with Dylan Frazier

NEWPORT BEACH, CA (June 7, 2022) -- Last week, at the USA Pickleball Newport Beach Championships, Delray Beach based JW Johnson, 19,  reached his third pro Pickleball Triple Crown this year by winning gold medals in Pro Men’s Singles, Pro Mixed Doubles with his sister Jorga Johnson, 15, and Pro Men’s Doubles with Dylan Frazier, 20 (it was JW and Dylan’s 3rd title in a row). The USA Pickleball Newport Beach Championships Gold Medal Matches were exclusively broadcast on ESPN+.

"JW Johnson and Dylan Frazier continued their undefeated streak for the third pickleball tournament in a row. Johnson and Frazier (the #1 seed) have not only won gold for three straight pickleball tournaments, but have not lost a single game in three straight pickleball tournaments. Like the women’s doubles champions, Bright and Todd, Johnson and Frazier limited their points given up to just 28 points in the eight games that they played (an average of 3.5 points per game—which was even more impressive than Bright and Todd), including a dominant gold medal match win of 11-3, 11-2."

"JW Johnson, paired with his younger sister and Rising Star Award recipient, Jorja Johnson, continued JW Johnson’s winning streak up until the winners’ bracket final. The Johnson siblings (the #1 seed) dropped the first game (which would be JW’s only game lost on the weekend), but came back to win the match in three games against the #2 seed, Lauren Stratman and Julian Arnold."

In summary, JW Johnson secured the triple crown, which is no easy feat. With a triple crown on the line for JW, pressure can certainly creep into play, but not for Jorja Johnson, who noted that she felt no pressure helping her brother secure the triple crown because “at the end of the day, [JW] is still my brother.”

NEW YORK, NY (May 31, 2022) -- At the 2022 Association Of Pickleball Professionals (APP) New York Open, Delray Beach based JW Johnson, 19, and Jorga Johnson won their first mixed doubles title defeating Zane Navratil and Andrea Koop

11-5,11-7 that was broadcast on ESPN+. The tournament was held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

U.S. OPEN PICKLEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS BACK IN NAPLES

And for one team, it's a family affair. Mother-Daughter duo Julie and Jorja Johnson played in the new Split Age Pro Division.
"I'm competing in Split Age Women's Doubles with my mom," 15-year-old Jorja Johnson said. "That means one senior pro plays with one regular pro under 50 and they compete with other teams matched up the same way."
"We are thrilled to be here at the U.S. open together today," added mom Julie Johnson.
The pair ended up winning their first game Tuesday, which had to happen for 15-year-old Jorja, because on the other side of the tournament, her brother James 'JW' Johnson was also competing.
"I was hoping so, I didn't want to hear about it later," Jorja said.
James Johnson was also played in the Split Age Men's Division and also won that game.
"It was a lot of fast action up in the net as well as a lot of quick movement there, so it's a lot of fun for the elderly and the young too," Johnson said. (Read More)
